Rural Schools of Norton County

  • Big Timber School: Located in the NW corner of Section 14, Sand Creek Township, Norton County, Kansas. The building is standing unused today (July 2001); Photos taken July 1990:

  • Champion Hill School: Was located about 1/4 mile south of the NE corner of Section 12 in West Union Township, Norton County, Kansas, or about 6 miles straight east of Densmore.  In 1900, 80 acres including where the school was located belonged to E. C. Spencer. In 1917 and 1935, 320 acres including the school belonged to Henry Kelling.  In 1972 and 1999 320 acres belonged to Albert A.
