Norton

4/2/1891 – 10/13/1961

Dr. Long came to Norton County in 1934, and before that he had been at Prairie View for four years.

He was born at Agenda, Kansas April 2, 1891 the son of Sigie and Isabell Patton Long. He live in Agenda until he entered service in World War I, he was attending high school when he went into service and finished when he returned home.

He attended the University of Kansas and Rush Medical School at Chicago

He was married to Irene Hicks at Norton June 16, 1926. After their marriage they lived at Minneapolis, Minn., and Denver, where the doctor served his internship. After World War I, he had remained in France for sometime with General Pershing’s Army before returning.

Dr. Long won for himself the lasting friendship and admiration of thousands of persons during his many years of practice in Norton.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, both of whom are physicians, one daughter, seven grandchildren , three brothers and one sister.  He is buried in the Norton Cemetery.
