Almena’s first physicians

Dr. George Washington Bronson was apparently the first physician to arrive at Almena, KS. He came to the area in a prairie schooner and had served in the Civil War until he was wounded in the head.
Dr. Youngman came to Almena with W. L. Howe, a businessman who opened the first drugstore in Almena and served the area a short time. Dr. Youngman returned to Missouri where he passed away.
