The Burlington Railroad was built through this area in 1885. Seth was first platted in 1887 with streets and avenues, all named. It was located south of the railroad tracks on Highway 383. There was a railway depot and stockyards on the siding. A few area residents went together to establish businesses. The land was owned by David F. McFarland and Ida H. McFarland.
